Olympus E-5, SWD12-60 @ 60mm, 1/125, f/4, ISO400 Olympus E-5, SWD12-60 @ 60mm, 1/200, f/4, ISO400 This old lady was about to take a picture with her point&shoot. It was pooring rain. This picture was taken under a very heavy rain. The E-5 is definitely weatherproof. All files ORF (Olympus Raw Files format) and converted in B/W using Silver Efex Pro.
Tried my 150mm with the extension tube yesterday. A great combo if you want a lot of details and keep a certain distance from your subject. Here are a few shots. Olympus E-5, 150mm f/2.0, EX-25 tube, 1/320, f/7.1, +0.7EV, ISO200, Manfrotto tripod, Gitzo ball head Olympus E-5, 150mm f/2.0, EX-25 tube, 1/250, f/7.1, +0.7EV, ISO200, Manfrotto tripod, Gitzo ball head You need a tripod to fully enjoy all the potential of this combo. More to come.
I have been shooting the TOY LENS 26mm f/1.4 today with my Olympus EPL-2 by a cold temperature of -18C. It only took me about 6-8 minutes before I could hardly move my fingers to operate my EPL-2. It was so cold. The challenge in the cold is to focus the lens: you have to manually focus by using the magnifier. You have to press the magnifier button twice, turn the focus ring until you reach what looks like the [Read more...]
Olympus EPL-1, Micro 4/3 17mm f2.8, 1/20, f/2.8, ISO400, IS ON, JPG Twilight is among the best time of the day for architectural photography. This picture was shot 30 minutes after sunset with a slow shutter speed. Make sure you do a few test shots, you don’t want to burn the building and at the same time you want this beautiful sky to remain twilight blue!!! Your exposure is key to get the perfect shot. You will need a lens [Read more...]
I just happen to be at the right place at the right time this very morning of January 27, 2009 when this guy got caught trying to brake the ATM machine. New Orleans it was and I had my small Panasonic LX-3 at hand to picture the moment. Timing is everything! Here is another one. I was driving down the road, not very far from where I live, when I saw this groundhog looking at the cars coming in the [Read more...]
Downtown San Francisco, at the Marriott Marquis, overlooking the bay from one side of the building. It is 7:30AM and I am just about to go to the elevator when I see this gorgeous sunrise. I rush to my room, grab my E-5, and switch my Zuiko 12-60 for Little Tuna (SHG 150mm f/2). Set to Aperture priority, WB ajusted to amber +1, image stabilization on, ESP metering, JPG mode and -0.3EV, I fire my E-5 through the dirty window [Read more...]
Just got two new lenses today: the SLR Magic 35mm f/1.7 and the TOY LENS 26mm f/1.4, both for micro 4/3. I did not get to use the Toy Lens yet. The 35mm is a lot, a lot of fun. With an effective focal length of 70mm this little beauty is great for portraiture and has great defocusing capability. As you can see from the photos, you do get that Magic look and it’s pretty unique, sort of swirly, and [Read more...]
Olympus EPL-2, Zuiko MMF-2 adapter, 8mm f/3.5, 0.4 sec, f/3.5, ISO800, IS ON, handheld Look closely at this picture. It was taken handheld with image stabilization on. Imagine, 0.4 sec handheld and almost no blur!! This is how effective Olympus image stabilization is. A simple rule of thumb would suggest that the minimum shutter speed would be 1/15 sec (effective focal lenght in 35mm format is 16mm so 1/15sec would be the minimum suggested shutter speed). 3 stops lower and [Read more...]
